2)    W – Weaknesses

  1. The educational and economic background of students (inability of some to pay even the regular fees, the deficiency of many in English communication skills, the disinterestedness and cultural backwardness of the families of many girl students.
  2. The lessoning popularity of Marathi medium schools and the growing popularity of English Medium Schools negatively affect the employment future of many B.Ed. students with Marathi Medium.
  3. The government policies for teacher employments (e.g. slow rate of new appointments, discouragement of campus interviews, and slow implementation of Serva Shiksha Abhiyan etc.)
  4. Rising deficits (because of rising costs every year and complying with the improvements demanded by the authorities.

3)    O - Opportunities

  1. To use (if permissible and feasible) more and more spare capacities to generate additional financial and social resources.
  2. To start an English medium school in the NSCT educational complex so that more students of the college have the practice of teaching in English Medium and to enhance their employability.

4)    T – Threats (Challenges)

  1. Swings in the preference of Students for a particular stream (e.g. weather go for Arts/Commerce/Science etc.) are as common as the swings of voters in political elections. At present, less than expected students come to B.Ed. and M.Ed. courses (already many B.Ed. colleges in Maharashtra had to be closed down), and if this trend continues, this college also will have to think and act seriously about its survival and may have to start other education related courses as in Early Child care and education, Open university courses, competitive examination guidance etc.
  2. A sudden change in Government policies from pro-education to anti-education measures. Already in Maharashtra, many colleges like this do not get any government grants so they cannot match their rising expenses with their falling incomes. If such discouragement continues and intensifies, this college also will find itself difficult to survive.
